What does axle to axle mean on a bow?
Axle to axle length refers to the distance from one axle to the other when the archer’s compound bow is at rest. Axles refer to the opposite ends of a compound bow. The draw length should ideally be measured when the draw weight has been bottomed out for it to be accurate. The rule of thumb is that a longer axle to axle length is more accurate compared to a shorter one. This also implies that you’ll have to carry a longer and heavier bow. However, recent tests have revealed that at normal target distances, the variance in accuracy is almost negligible. Unless you are preparing for the Olympics; this shouldn’t make much of a difference.
